About The Bioventurist
The biotechnology industry is particularly complex. Science, business, technology, and government all play a hand in shaping the industry and the successes or failures of any single advance. Strong interdependent relationships exist between biotechnology stakeholders and between the products involved. New companies, technologies, and scientific discoveries continuously emerge creating a dynamic and fluid industry landscape.
The BioVenturist's Mission is to create an open source market and technology research platform that focuses on managing this complexity. We believe the dynamic industry landscape cannot be efficiently understood with the available tools, and decision makers are limited in their ability to be well informed. To address these issues, we take a technology-enhanced community-driven approach. We build novel tools for managing this complexity and allow the community to use them to map the industry. This approach is designed to enable rapid, distributed, organic, community-directed growth while at the same time producing a queriable, structured collection of knowledge.
Our platform relies on Freebase technology to organize the knowledge represented on the site. Freebase allows for highly structured data that allows for the faithful and efficient delineation of complex relationships as well as straightforward integration of data from multiple sources. .
